Steve King Erupts on Questioner Comparing His Rhetoric to Synagogue Shooter: ‘You’re DONE!’

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) melted down Thursday when a questioner at a town hall asked him about his frequent flirtations with white nationalism.

The trouble started when the questioner brought up the anti-immigrant rhetoric embraced by the shooter who went on a massacre last weekend at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. The questioner connected that to King’s racially-charged rhetoric over the years, asking the congressman “do you identify as a white nationalist?”

King angrily cut the young man off by calling him an “ambusher” and saying “do not associate me with that shooter!” The questioner continued asking King to differentiate his position from that of the shooter, but King wasn’t having any of it.

“I will not answer your question and I will not listen to another word from you,” King said. “Stop it! You’re done!”

King then asked security to remove the questioner.

The congressman has drawn fire even in conservative circles this week for likening Republicans to Austria’s Freedom Party, a far-right political group affiliated with neo-Nazis. The congressman has been raked across the coals in the aftermath of the Pittsburgh shooting, with the Des Moines Register publishing a letter from two Jewish leaders who condemned him as an “enthusiastic crusader” for the Pittsburgh shooter’s beliefs.
