Ted Cruz Is Really Unhappy About NFL Protesters

cruz NY galaSen. Ted Cruz fired off a pair of tweets Monday expressing his outrage with NFL protesters and encouraging others to boycott merchandise from athletes who demonstrated during the national anthem.

The former presidential candidate told TMZ last week said professional footballers who protested during the national anthem, like Colin Kaepernick, were “spoiled, rich athletes” who “didn’t recognize what an incredible blessing this country is.”

He echoed that sentiment on Twitter Monday, while also encouraging people to boycott in order to “send a message to athletes who have made millions in America’s freedom.”

Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem almost two weeks ago in order to bring attention to police brutality. There have been multiple silent demonstrations from NFL players in recent days, with athletes taking a knee or raising a fist during the singing of the national anthem to show their solidarity with Kaepernick
