‘The President Never Said That’: Scarborough Reports His Sources Say Mueller Is Safe
Newsmax CEO and Donald Trump friend, Christopher Ruddy made some serious headlines yesterday when he suggested that the president was considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller.
The suggestion was swiftly rebutted by Press Secretary Sean Spicer who insisted in a statement last night that Ruddy didn’t speak for the president on the issue — though he pointedly declined to say Mueller was safe.
On the last hour of Morning Joe, Tuesday, co-host Joe Scarborough threw cold water on Ruddy’s claims saying that three high level sources all told him that Mueller was safe and that the president never suggested dumping the special counsel.
“The people in the administration were quick to reach out to me and say Chris Ruddy doesn’t speak for this administration,” he said.
Mika Brzezinski pushed back.
“But did they say it’s not true?” she asked.
“What they have said is, and what I’ve heard from everybody is, the president didn’t speak to him on this matter and he doesn’t speak for the president.”
“Well, but I think Ruddy is now saying he spoke to good sources.” Brzezinski countered.
“I spoke to three sources that are about as high as it gets in the White House over the past 12 hours and every one of them said the same thing. Ruddy does not speak for the president and the president never said that.”
