The Ultimate Warrior On Occupy Wall Street: ‘They Have No Common Decency’
On the same day that the Muppets took over WWE’s Monday Night Raw, wrestling legend The Ultimate Warrior told TMZ that he wasn’t a fan, at all, of the Occupy Wall Street protesters, saying that if they really want to be heard, they should stop their chanting and, instead, start boycotting products. He also let them have it for a lack of knowledge on why they’re protesting. “They don’t have any idea of what they want to be done,” he told TMZ, “they just want to participate in this energy that’s down there.”
In a surprisingly well thought-out argument, Warrior, when asked about the protests, first said that he didn’t think he’d be able to give an answer that would work well in a sound bite (an art form that he perfected in the 80s and 90s). He then paused, and tore into the protesters, saying that he finds it ironic that most of them have iPads and iPhones — material goods that are a big part of, “the consumerism that goes on,” in this country. “Things just don’t fall from the sky,” he said. “Somebody’s got to make them.” He added that the biggest statement the OWS crowd could make would be to boycott some of the companies:
“Don’t buy the stuff. Start living your own life, practice what you preach. I don’t see a lot of that going on.”
The man from Parts Unknown then lit into the protest camps, saying he’s not a fan of the squalor. “It’s like they have no manners, they have no common decency, there’s absolute misbehavior.” If anything, The Ultimate Warrior’s stance should be a nice shot in the arm for the anti-OWS crowd, as one of the most intimidating men in wrestling history now has their backs.
