‘This Guy Is Lying for Clicks Again’: Fox News Reporter Debunks Video Purporting to Show Cartel Trucks Storming Across Southern Border

Bill Melugin

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin put a Twitter user on blast Friday night for posting a video purporting to show vehicles rolling across the U.S. southern border with Mexico.

“OH MY GOD A MASSIVE CONVOY OF CARTEL TRUCKS JUST OVERRAN A U.S. BORDER PATROL CHECKPOINT IN ARIZONA,” wrote a user named Matt Wallace, whose “caps lock” button was apparently stuck in the on position.

Melugin, who has essentially camped out at the border during the Biden administration, slammed the tweet.

“This guy is lying for clicks again,” the reporter tweeted. “This is not what a Border Patrol checkpoint looks like, nor is it a CBP port of entry. I’ve been to or through almost all of them in AZ. Don’t know where/what this is, but it is 100% not the AZ border. Looks like toll booths in foreign country.”

Wallace’s tweet racked up more than 8,000 retweets before he eventually deleted the post. In a reply to his own tweet that had nothing to do with the video, Wallace touted a company and provided users with a promo code.

In a subsequent reply, he addressed what Melugin and others noted about the video using half-baked “reasoning.”

“Some people are claiming this video is of something else but if that is true then how come nobody is saying what else it is of then?”

Wallace has 1.4 million followers.

At least one user seemed to have pinpointed the origin of the video, which was supposedly taken in Colombia in 2019 and posted to TikTok.
