‘Traitor’: Political World Reacts to Stunning WaPo Report That Trump Revealed Classified Intel to Russians

The political world was stunned, Monday afternoon, by the explosive Washington Post report that President Donald Trump revealed “highly classified information” to Russia’s ambassador and Foreign Minister last week during their White House visit.
Reaction has come down fast and furious through social media. Matt Ortega, the former digital director for communications for the Hillary Clinton campaign, used a highly damning word to describe Trump in the wake of this report:
It was at this moment Donald Trump became a traitor to the United States of America. https://t.co/Q05k15iYfZ

Other politicians, journalists, and others also weighed in on the bombshell report via Twitter:
If true, this is a slap in the face to the intel community. Risking sources & methods is inexcusable, particularly with the Russians. https://t.co/CRiSC024F7

McCain on report Trump shared code-word classified info w/ Russians: "If it's true, I would say it's disturbing."

Protip: Don’t give the Russians classified information. #Classified101

The President has the power to declassify intel.
Who trusts Trump to have the judgment to know when that’s appropriate?

If Hillary Clinton leaked classified info to a Russian spook/diplomat, Republicans would rightly be drafting Articles of Impeachment N-O-W.

Donald Trump concealed classified information from the Russian government, with few exceptions.

Hoping for the sake of our national security that the story about @POTUS revealing classified intel to the Russian Ambassador is #FakeNews
— Seth Moulton (@sethmoulton) May 15, 2017
Think how dismayed the intelligence professionals must be to have leaked this story

Sen Graham says if report that Trump divulged classified info to the Russians is accurate, it would be "troubling."

1. Call Russia investigation a hoax. 2. Fire lead investigator. 3. Spill highly classified info to Russians. Time for independent counsel.

We found the leaker… You're right, @realDonaldTrump, Congress & the FBI should be looking into this. I'm ready. pic.twitter.com/yINrPkIz6f

This is dangerous and reckless. GOP must put country before party and demand an independent investigation and special prosecutor now. https://t.co/MskFZ0ZP9k
— Senator Dick Durbin (@SenatorDurbin) May 15, 2017
Breathtakingly reckless. https://t.co/YyuLxMmDvk
— Congressman Tim Ryan (@RepTimRyan) May 15, 2017
.@realDonaldTrump revealing classified info to the Russians is either clueless or reckless. Both dangerous to the security of our nation. https://t.co/aEL9k7oVef
