Trump Goes After the NFL Over Anthem Policy: Standing With ‘Hand on Heart’ Should Be in Contracts!
It’s executive time again.
President Donald Trump sounded off on Twitter tonight about the “fake news” yet again and the NFL protests.
For the second or third day in a row, Trump lashed out at the “fake news” coverage of his disastrous press conference with Vladimir Putin, though this time he at least didn’t call them the enemy of the people:
I got severely criticized by the Fake News Media for being too nice to President Putin. In the Old Days they would call it Diplomacy. If I was loud & vicious, I would have been criticized for being too tough. Remember when they said I was too tough with Chairman Kim? Hypocrites!

But because the NFL’s anthem policy is now on hold, the President decided to exploit the issue again to change the subject from the continued Helsinki fallout and the big Michael Cohen news:
The NFL National Anthem Debate is alive and well again – can’t believe it! Isn’t it in contract that players must stand at attention, hand on heart? The $40,000,000 Commissioner must now make a stand. First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!

This time people saw it as a way for Trump to shift the conversation off Putin and onto something else:
