Trump: ‘I Don’t Think Anyone Cares’ About My Tax Returns
Donald Trump and Mike Pence did a joint interview today with ABC News’ David Muir and said that no one really cares about his taxes.
There has been enormous pressure on Trump to release his tax returns, following disclosures by Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine. There’s been a lot of gossip about what could possibly be in Trump’s returns that he doesn’t want people to know about.
Pence recently said both of them would release their returns, but Pence clarified to Muir that that’s only after the audit, and also “this is all a distraction.”
As for Trump’s returns, The Donald went ahead and said 1) no one cares, and 2) he’d love to release them:
“I think people don’t care,” Trump said Monday afternoon in Ohio of his tax returns, which he has not released. “I don’t think anybody cares, except some members of the press.”
Trump said he’s provided the “most extensive financial review of anybody in the history of politics” and because he’s under a “routine audit,” he’s not able to make his tax returns public…
“When the audit is done, I’ll release them. I don’t know when that’s gonna be, it could be soon, it could be not,” Trump said, echoing his VP pick.
Trump could legally release his tax returns if he’s really under audit, though legal experts agree it’s inadvisable.
