Trump Spins Walmart Deal as ‘Affordability’ Win – Before He’s Slapped With Savage Community Note

President Donald Trump touted Walmart’s 25% price drop on its annual Thanksgiving deal on Wednesday as proof he’s delivering on “AFFORDABILITY,” only for X users to dig past the spin to awkwardly note that the meal contains fewer dishes.

The president fired off the boast on Truth Social in a swipe at predecessor “Sleepy/Crooked Joe Biden”:

The White House Rapid Response team reposted a screenshot of Trump’s post to X, where a Community Note was soon attached to counter the spin:

The reader-sourced correction pointed out that Walmart’s 2025 Thanksgiving meal includes only 15 items, compared to 21 last year. Likewise readers found that and that many national brands had been replaced with cheaper private-label Great Value substitutes, directly citing Walmart’s own corporate press releases from 2024 and 2025.

Regardless, on Thursday morning, Trump posted the same claim again, declaring: “2025 Thanksgiving dinner under Trump is 25% lower than 2024 Thanksgiving dinner under Biden, according to Walmart.”

The note comes after a late October Washington Post-ABC News/Ipsos survey revealed that 59% of adults said they blame Trump either a “great deal” or a “good amount” for the current rate of inflation.

According to the findings, voters do not believe their cost of living is coming down, with seven in 10 adults saying they’re paying more for groceries than they were a year ago under Biden. The squeeze runs across voters in both parties.
