Trump Touts Newly-Uncovered Quote of Him Doubting Iraq War Months After It Began
Donald Trump happily touted a quote of his doubting the Iraq war this morning after it was highlighted by (surprise surprise) Morning Joe.
FactCheck.org last night provided a comprehensive history of Trump’s public statements about Iraq, which Trump has repeatedly insisted he opposed before the war began. Except for the fact that BuzzFeed found audio this week of Trump being asked about invading Iraq in 2002 and saying, “Yeah, I guess so.”
The Donald insisted he was against it before it began. FactCheck.org found a few quotes in the days following the invasion from Trump calling it “depressing” and “a mess” and such, but in September 2003, Trump eventually said, “I would have fought terrorism but not necessarily Iraq.”
He apparently said that on Scarborough Country. That’s right, the MSNBC show that Joe Scarborough used to host. And yes, they talked about it on Morning Joe this morning.
On Fox News this morning, Trump highlighted this quote, naturally:

And would it surprise you at all to learn Scarborough went to bat for him last night:

And Trump, of course, highlighted it:
