Univision CEO Defends Ending Trump Ties: ‘We Have Nothing to Apologize For’

PicMonkey Collage - Falco TrumpEver since Donald Trump made his incendiary comments about Mexicans and illegal immigrants, his presidential candidacy and business interests have seen quite a lot of blowback.

Before NBC cut its ties with Trump, Univision was the first to take Trump-sponsored programming off the air. On Monday, CEO Randy Falco put out an internal memo obtained by CNN saying that no matter what Trump has otherwise claimed, Univision never apologized for its decision.

“I made the decision to end business relationships with the Trump Organization simply because it was the right thing to do,” Falco wrote in his memo. “No one approached me, asked me or pressured me to take this action.”

Despite signing a long-term contract with Trump Organization earlier this year, Falco decided last Thursday that the Spanish-language broadcasting agency would no longer air the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. Falco went on to say that despite any political pressure and Trump’s threat to sue Univision for breach of contract, the network stands by its choice.

“I can also assure you that we never apologized because we have nothing to apologize for,” said Falco. “We took this action because it preserves the dignity of our community and our employees and our relationship with them
