Verizon Rolls Out Lebron and Creepy Yo Gabba Gabba Characters For New Digital Ads
I’ll admit — I had to do a Google search for “Yo Gabba Gabba” because I was woefully unfamiliar with the creatures when I first saw Verizon’s new line of :30 second spots. But, my suspicions were confirmed after watching how the cellphone giant depicted the children’s TV show figures: they’re creepy as all hell.
Just check out how Verizon chose to layer the Yo Gabba Gabba… aliens? animals? lab-created freaks? — with dramatic music to roll out its newest commercial to promote its 128 kbps LTE connection:
The plan touts 30% more data and “no surprise overages” as part of the new effort for customers.
Verizon also tapped NBA champ LeBron James to costar in on spot in what appears to be a Smokey Bear outfit of some kind (if the cartoon traded in his wildfire prevention habits for a life time supply of creatine, of course):
According to AdAge, the two above spots were created by Widen & Kennedy, and includes, “TV spots and additional related content on Facebook and Twitter, among other digital properties.”
