WATCH: Alex Ovechkin Does Keg Stand Out of Stanley Cup, Swims in Public Fountain as Caps Rage On
Nicklas Backstrom joked that Alex Ovechkin hasn’t stopped hoisting the #StanleyCup since it was handed over Thursday night in Vegas. I do not doubt him. #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/LZA005weyd

Since winning the first Stanley Cup in franchise history on Thursday, the Washington Capitals have been on an historic bender.
Star player Alex Ovechkin has led the charge. He’s been virtually inseparable from the massive Stanley Cup trophy since Thursday night, never missing an opportunity to hoist the goblet over his head before a crowd (see above).
He even filled the Cup with a magnum of Veuve Clicquot champagne at a club on Friday night:
I can’t remember any player that has been more genuinely excited after winning the #StanleyCup than Alex Ovechkin.

On Saturday, Ovechkin put the Cup down long enough to throw out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals game, and sent the ball soaring over Max Scherzer‘s head. He was granted a mulligan.

During the game, he was spotted in an executive box, the Stanley Cup forever hoisted above his head.
Alex Ovechkin is just holding the Stanley Cup up in the middle of the inning. They won’t put him on the Jumbotron because the ball is still in play lmfao #ALLCAPS #StanleyCup pic.twitter.com/XRRuUUWrOP

One intrepid reporter decided to interview Ovechkin and right wing Tom Wilson in the suite, but his questions were drowned out by a rendition of “We Are The Champions” and beer chugging:

And here’s Ovechkin doing laps in a public fountain:
Ovechkin is on track to beat J.R. Smith, whose record-setting bender had him partying shirtless for 48 hours after winning the NBA Championship in 2016.
