Watch Clip from Reportedly Disastrous Dave Chappelle Show; Fans Demand Refunds

Detroitisans are demanding refunds from comedian Dave Chappelle after what was called a disastrous and possibly drunken performance at the Fillmore Thursday night.

The audience complained that Chappelle took the stage an hour late, didn’t really tell jokes, and instead rambled and slurred through what some described as a “press conference”-like set. (FTR, that’s exactly how Lenny Bruce went out.) Tickets cost upwards of $240.

At one point an audience member demanded to hear “some of the act.” Chappelle responded that it was 2 a.m. and he had to leave, to which the crowd shouted that it was only 1 in the morning.

“Out of the 50 shows on the tour, Thursday was definitely not his best set,” Chappelle’s spokesperson told TMZ. “On the flip side, the incident inspired some additional sharp-witted material and (Friday) he came back with a vengeance.”

Incidentally, at least one fan thought the performance was “as RAW as it gets.” That’s exactly how Lenny Bruce went out.
