WATCH: Electrical Fire Erupts at DC Metro Station Moments After Train Pulls Away

Security cameras in a Washington, DC Metro station recorded the shocking moment that a fireball of sorts exploded on the tracks moments after a train full of passengers pulls away.

NBC Washington posted the surveillance footage from inside the Federal Center station this evening. According to WTOP, service was suspended between Eastern Market and L’Enfant Plaza stations after the incident. The track fire affects the Metro’s blue, orange, and silver lines of service.

The station will remain closed tomorrow to commuters. Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld said Thursday evening that the fire was caused by debris on the track. Service is expected to return Friday morning.
