WATCH: Fox News Clash Between Reps. Gaetz and Cicilline on Russia Probe Turns Into Shouting Match
In an effort to show “both sides” of the story, Outnumbered‘s Harris Faulkner spoke to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) about the state of affairs in the Manafort investigation.
“Democrats are running on a commitment to drain the swamp to end the pervasive corruption in Washington that has made government work for the special interests and not for them,” Cicilline said, and Faulkner looked absolutely scandalized.
“Really?” she said. “You’re going to take the president’s talking points on that?”
“Look at what he does, not what he says,” Cicilline replied. “This is the most corrupt administration in our history.”
Faulkner wanted Gaetz to chime in, but Cicilline tried to rattle off a few more statistics before Faulkner dismissed it as “filibustering.”
Gaetz stuck to GOP talking points – most prominently, that the Manafort indictments have nothing to do with President Donald Trump – and Cicilline looked to undercut them and show they weren’t true, or at the very best, “wishful thinking.” What ended up happening was that Cicilline was accused of continually looking to interrupt Gaetz.
“What we need to do is make sure that Mr. Mueller can complete his investigation,” Cicilline said after crosstalk.
“No one is stopping him,” Faulkner shot back.
“He fired the FBI director,” Cicilline explained, to which Faulkner simply said: “Oh my goodness.”
“I have got to go visit Rhode Island because I want to see if everybody in Rhode Island is like you,” she added later. “‘Cause I know you’re a nice man, you just won’t let anybody finish.”
