Watch Fox’s Dick Stockton Make a Hilarious Ron Burgundy-Style Teleprompter Gaffe

Dick Stockton is a sports broadcasting legend. As part of his decades-long tenure with CBS, Stockton called the NBA Finals for much of the 1980s. He’s also been on the mic for the Olympics, the World Series, and dozens of NCAA Tournament games.

But from time-to-time, even legends mess up.

During Sunday’s Los Angeles Rams vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game on Fox (via Deadspin), Stockton read a promo for the halftime show.

“Coming up on the Visa halftime report,” Stockton said — reading off of the teleprompter, “Curt, Terry, Howie, Michael and Tony.

“Look on graphic for the final two bullet points.”

The gaffe went unacknowledged by Stockton’s colleague, Mark Schlereth. But Stockton himself appeared to poke fun at his error moments later.

“What did he mean by that?” Stockton said with a laugh.

The Ron Burgundy-style gaffe called to mind this classic by then-CNN anchor Rick Sanchez. (“Up next…ad lib…a tease.”)

Finish this post with a clever joke.
