WATCH: Kamala Harris’s Book Tour Kickoff Raided by Gaza Protesters
Kamala Harris’s book tour launch for her 2024 campaign memoir, 107 Days, was jolted on Wednesday night as pro-Palestine protesters repeatedly interrupted the event in Manhattan.
The former vice president, greeted with chants of “Kamala” from a packed audience, was forced to pause after demonstrators accused her of complicity in “genocide” in Gaza. Security removed at least three protesters.
“I’m not president right now,” she told the audience, drawing loud applause. “There’s nothing I can do.”
As the audience jeered and the protesters continued to rail, Harris grew agitated and stood up.
“Unlike the current president of the United States, I understand what’s happening right now in Gaza. What is happening to the Palestinian people is outrageous, and it breaks my heart,” she said.
She noted that she raised humanitarian concerns during her vice presidency but “couldn’t make the decision” to intervene.
Pivoting to 2025 politics, Harris condemned President Donald Trump for giving a “blank check” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are “laughing at us right now.” She also endorsed progressive New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling his campaign “powerful.”
