WATCH LIVE: Chris Christie Announces Presidential Candidacy

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is set to announce his candidacy for the 2016 GOP nomination Tuesday morning, adding another major name to an already crowded Republican field. Christie, who has at times shown a flair for bipartisan appeal, is expected to challenge Jeb Bush for major donor and establishment attention.

Christie was a rising star ahead of the 2012 election and a bandied about name for Mitt Romney’s running mate. Since his 2013 reelection, however, he has been plagued by scandal and uneven economic news in his home state, lowering his New Jersey approval rating and damaging his national brand. This morning an editor for a New Jersey paper called him a giant liar.
