WATCH LIVE: Trump Makes Surprise Appearance in Briefing Room With Sarah Sanders

With the Federal government shutdown in its 13th day, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced a surprise briefing with just a few minutes notice.

This is the first briefing of 2019, and the first since Dec. 18. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported on the network that there are a number of empty seats in the room — with the press corps having been caught off-guard by the surprise briefing.
