President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are in Las Vegas today, which comes three days after the city was attacked by a shooter who killed nearly 60 people and wounded over 500 more.
They are set to meet with “civilian heroes” and first responders in Las Vegas at 2:50 p.m. EST.
Trump’s trip comes after he flew to Puerto Rico on Tuesday for a briefing on recovery efforts after the island was devastated by Hurricane Maria. Today, Trump will meet with the first responders and law enforcement officials who reacted to the worst mass casualty event in modern American history.
After this, the Trump family is expected to meet with hospitalized victims, as well as families who lost their loved ones during the attack.
“It’s a very sad thing,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House. “We’re going to pay our respects and to see the police who have done really a fantastic job in a short time.”
It is not yet clear whether Trump will give an address or take questions during his Vegas trip. If the president does take questions, it’s likely he’ll talk about the ongoing investigation into the shooting, as well as topics like gun violence, his trip to Puerto Rico and today’s statement from Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Watch a live stream of the meeting above, starting at 2:50 p.m. EST.
