WATCH: Woman Attacks Airline Employee and Computer in Epic Airport Meltdown
A woman caused more than $1,000 in damage after she melted down at the Orlando International Airport, attacking both a Southwest Airlines employee and a computer.
The woman, identified as Selomit Velez-Rodriguez, 45, was caught on video screaming at airline employees as she tried to get through her gate.
“Motherf*cker, are you kidding me?” she says in the video, explaining she is trying to get to her destination to bury her brother.
At one point during the video, Velez-Rodriguez appeared to kick a Southwest worker she was yelling at and punch a monitor at the employee’s desk.
Velez-Rodriguez can be heard yelling at employees that this was not the only flight she missed. Her act of violence on the computer caused more than $1,000 in damage to airport equipment, according to police.
Video of the chaotic meltdown was first posted to social media by fellow passenger Peyton Turbeville.
Police ultimately responded to the situation and Velez-Rodriguez was booked and charged with battery, criminal mischief, and resisting an officer without violence. She ended up posting a $5,000 bond and was allowed to return to her home state of Illinois.
“People have gotten real crazy, that’s wild. I mean, you walk into places, they’re just doing their jobs. Can’t take it out on everybody,” a traveler and witness to the meltdown told FOX 5 Atlanta.
“It just makes me sad,” another witness said. “There’s something about air travel that stresses people out, but there’s no reason to commit physical violence.”
