WHCD Red Carpet: Acosta, Mitchell and Tapper Speculate on What Trump Thinks of Them

Given the seemingly symbiotic and negative relationship between President Donald Trump and the Media, we’ve wondered if news personalities take Trump’s digs personally. Over the weekend, Mediaite’s Travis Irvine hit the White House Correspondent’s Dinner red carpet and asked numerous personalities what they thought Trump thought of them.

Previously we asked some of the top cable news personalities, reporters and hosts if they thought Trump would end up being “good or bad” for the press. Trump used his Saturday night to mock the White House Correspondents Dinner in his absence, but during this time, Irvine was asking media influencers how they believe the president thinks about them.

Irvine spoke to figures like Andrea Mitchell, Don Lemon, and Jim Acosta, and they offered a myriad of responses as they pondered how the Commander-in-Chief views them personally. Mitchel said she “couldn’t hazard a guess,” while Acosta recalled the time Trump called him “fake news” at that explosive press conference during his executive transition.

Jake Tapper said he doesn’t really care what Trump thinks of him, while also noting how politicians and powerful figures typically don’t like “reporters who challenge them.” Lemon was a bit more frank, saying he’s sure Trump likes him because “I know he watches me, so if he didn’t like, me he wouldn’t watch me.”

Watch above.
