Which ‘Lifelong Democrat’ in Hollywood Is Jumping Ship?
Bill Maher bragged how well California is doing thanks to a Democratic supermajority in the state government and a lack of tea party “nonsense,” but at least one other Hollywood celebrity does not agree. Rob Schneider, known for his SNL work as well as starring in movies like Deuce Bigalow: American Gigolo, said in an interview with PolitiChicks that he can no longer be a “lifelong Democrat” because the party has done so poorly for the state of California.
Schneider told Ann-Marie Murrell why he can no longer ally himself with the Democrats, particularly California Democrats.
“The state of California is a mess, and the supermajority of Democrats is not working. I have been a lifelong Democrat and I have to switch over because it no longer serves the people of this great state.”
Schneider also said that he hasn’t made a movie in seven years “because we’re not being competitive,” and added that a vitamin company he co-owns had to be moved out ot California due to overregulation.
Schneider was flanked by Tim Donnelly in the interview, a Republican assemblyman in California running for governor, and actually endorsed Donnelly’s candidacy. He said he may disagree with people like Donnelly on social issues, but that shouldn’t be a dealbreaker.
