White House Website Has a Security Issue While Obama Speaks at a Cybersecurity Summit

On Friday, President Barack Obama is set to speak to a cybersecurity summit at Stanford University in California. Ironically, the White House website, WhiteHouse.gov, is experiencing some security concerns at the moment.

As The Verge notes, it appears that the White House’s IT team forgot to renew the site’s SSL security certificate, so when you go to https://whitehouse.gov (don’t forget the “HTTPS”), you’ll receive a “privacy error” message in your browser. The extra “S” stands for “secure,” which signifies to all of us that the White House is actually in control of what appears on the website.
