Woman Accusing Keith Ellison of Abuse Speaks Out: ‘I Didn’t Choose’ To Get Dragged Off The Bed
The woman who has accused Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) of domestic abuse is speaking out for the first time on camera.
Karen Monahan, ex-girlfriend of Ellison, sat down for an interview with CBS News which aired Thursday night after her son first went public with her allegations on Facebook.
Monahan said she way laying on the bed listening to a podcast when Ellison told her to take out the trash.
“He looked at me and goes, ‘Hey! You f**kin hearing me?!'” Monahan said. “And then he looked at me, he goes ‘B*tch, get the f*ck out of my house!’ And he started trying to drag me off the bed. That’s when I put my camera on to video him.”
Monahan told CBS News that it was the only instance of physical abuse she experienced in their three-year relationship.
Ellison completely denies ever pulling Monahan off his bed, insisting that there “couldn’t be” a video since he “never did that.”
When asked why she’s speaking out now, Monahan said she “followed her gut.”
“He didn’t apologize for putting his hands on me,” Monahan said. “One is enough.”

She also told CBS News that Ellison confronted her about her tweets that began shedding light on her allegations before announcing his run for Attorney General in Minnesota.
“The conversation went straight to ‘Hey, you know, I noticed that you’ve been tweeting a lot, you know, about abuse and the #MeToo… and you know, I was just wondering, are you going to keep tweeting about this?'” she remembered her conversation. “He goes, ‘I don’t want to have to look over my shoulder all the time, wondering when you’re going to tweet something, and say it’s me.'”
Monahan said this was her response to Deputy DNC chairman:
At this point in time, I’m grounded, and I know who I am. I have healed for a year and a half. I looked straight at him, I said ‘I never ruined your career. I didn’t choose to do the things you did. I didn’t choose for you to drag me off the bed, call me a b*tch, tell me you hate me. I didn’t choose that.’
Ellison recently won the Democratic primary for Minnesota Attorney General on Tuesday.
