Biden Speech at Charleston Church Crashed By Protestors Calling for Gaza Ceasefire

Pro-Palestine protesters interrupted President Joe Biden during a speech on Monday in order to demand a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Biden was speaking at Mother Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina, the church where nine people were killed by a white supremacist gunman back in 2015. As the president warned about the ongoing scourge of white supremacy, a woman in the congregation yelled out “if you really care about the lives lost here, you should honor their lives and call for a ceasefire in Palestine.”

From there, the woman and others stood up and started chanting, “Ceasefire now!” The protesters were led out of the church, drawing angry shouts from others in attendance, who countered with their own chant of “four more years.”

After allowing the scene to play out, Biden thanked the crowd before saying “I understand their passion.”

“I have been quietly working with the Israeli government to get them to reduce and get out of Gaza, and doing all I can to do it,” Biden said. As he tried to get back on track, another woman in the crowd interjected to call Biden “an understanding person. They don’t realize that. You’re a good man!”

The woman was applauded, and Biden thanked her as he resumed speaking.
