Bob Woodward Thinks the Answer to the Russia Collusion Story is in Russia

During an interview with New York Magazine’s Daily IntelligencerBob Woodward said he thinks the answer to the Russian collusion story is in Russia, not that he plans to go there because he thinks he could wind up dead.

His comments came during an extended discussion at his townhouse in Georgetown with the magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi. which veered into Russian collusion.

The author of Fear started off by saying this:

Oh. Well, you know Hugh Hewitt, you know who he is? A conservative, I did an interview with him and he read the book and he asked questions about page 248 … and he said that he thinks it is a shame that Trump and people in the White House don’t read it, because he said that he saw some positive things in it. He actually said that he would air-drop copies to all the embassies in Washington so … if they want to see if this is who Trump is. And he said that, oh, it shows no collusion with Russia. Which is true. And I said that I did not find any, but in the end of the book when Dowd is reflecting on the situation, he says, or he concludes, that he and Trump got suckered by Mueller. Turning over all these witness interviews, corroborating documents and so forth, he concludes that Mueller may have something.

He further suggested the key to the Russian collusion story is in Russia,  not that he’s going there to find out personally.

“I don’t know that, but I believe very strongly that the answer to the Russian collusion story is in Russia,” he continued on. “Moscow. If somebody who is really going to get to the bottom of the root Russian collusion issue, the answer is in Moscow. If I were to go there, I don’t think I would ever come back.”

Then, when Nuzzi asked if he actually thought he would be killed if he went to Russia, he said, “Yeah.”

“It would be preposterous, given the nature of their regime and how they look at the press and so forth,” he further explained, before adding that it would certainly be preposterous to go there at his age with a family.
