Trump Wins Iowa, CNN Projects Just 30 Minutes After Start of Caucus

Former President Donald Trump won the Iowa caucuses on Monday, according to CNN, which projected his victory just 30 minutes in.

Trump beat Republican primary rivals Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy, according to CNN, pushing him one step closer to becoming the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nominee.

Trump – who received last minute endorsements from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) – turned on his ally Ramaswamy just days before the caucus, publishing some harsh words on Truth Social, Saturday.

“Vivek started his campaign as a great supporter, ‘the best President in generations,’ etc. Unfortunately, now all he does is disguise his support in the form of deceitful campaign tricks. Very sly, but a vote for Vivek is a vote for the “other side” — don’t get duped by this,” Trump claimed. “Vote for ‘TRUMP,’ don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA. The Biden Indictments against his Political Opponent will never be allowed in this Country, they are already beginning to fall! MAGA!!!”

In a follow-up post on Monday morning, Trump added, “A VOTE FOR VIVEK IS A WASTED VOTE. I LIKE VIVEK, BUT HE PLAYED IT TOO “CUTE” WITH US. CAUCUS TONIGHT, VOTE FOR DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Ramaswamy, meanwhile, warned his own supporters not to “walk into the other side’s trap” by voting for Trump, which he suggested would allow “the puppet masters” to “quietly trot Nikki into power” as Trump’s VP.

Ahead of the caucus, Trump also urged his supporters to vote for him even if they were “sick as a dog”  and would be likely to die from doing so.

“Even if you vote and then pass away, it’s worth it,” he insisted.
