DeSantis Sharpens Attacks On Trump By Calling Out Multiple ‘Really Head-Scratching’ Moments From Rallies
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) tore into his GOP presidential rival Donald Trump on Monday evening, shredding the former president for some of the more outlandish remarks he made during rallies over the weekend.
“We’ve seen, uh, in the state recently, uh, Donald Trump, uh, doing doing events. And I just, you know, I watch some of those events, uh, see snippets of his speeches and, uh, comparing him to 2016 Trump versus now, uh, you know, this is just a different guy,” DeSantis said in a short clip shared by the Never Back Down PAC.
“He’s lost the zip on his fastball. Uh, some of the things he was talking about in terms of magnets underwater, uh, saying that somehow, uh, the Perry shooting, people just needed to get over it,” DeSantis continued, concluding:
Uh, were really head-scratching to hear that, you know, he even suggested that, um, uh, that that the Civil War, you know, could have he could have potentially negotiated, uh, that somehow, uh, you know, he couldn’t even negotiate funding for a border wall when he had a Republican Congress.
And so, you know, I see that and I look and I think that, um, the more Iowans see kind of, uh, you know, this Trump versus the Trump that they knew. Uh, I think that you’re going to see more and more people who are going to be open to go in a different direction.
DeSantis is currently trailing Trump in Iowa by some 36 points, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polling. As the GOP Iowa caucus nears, DeSantis has sharpened his attacks on the former president, who made headlines over the weekend for a bevy of outlandish, nonsensical statements.
