Doctors dismissed former President Donald Trump’s claims that his opponent in the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris, is facing “deeply serious” medical conditions that “impact her functioning.”
Two doctors who spoke with Mediaite about Trump’s outlandish claims said Harris simply has common seasonal allergies.
In a newly released medical report, Harris’s doctor deemed the 59-year-old to be in “excellent health.” Harris has used the report to challenge Trump, who is 78, to release his own medical records. The former president said he would not do so in a Truth Social post on Tuesday morning, claiming he is “too busy campaigning” to release the information.
In another post, Trump bizarrely claimed the allergies revealed in his opponent’s report are “deeply serious conditions that clearly impact her functioning.”
“I have just seen Kamala’s Report, and it is not good. According to her Doctor’s Report, she suffers from ‘urticaria,’ defined as ‘a rash of round, red welts on the skin that itch intensely, sometimes with dangerous swelling.’ She also has ‘allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis,’ a very messy and dangerous situation,” he said.
Dr. Haydee Brown, an orthopedic surgeon and clinical instructor, said Harris has “seasonal allergies which are very common,” and based on her medical report “takes over the counter commonly used medications for seasonal allergies.”
Dr. Purvi Parikh, a New York based allergist and immunologist, told Mediaite in an interview that while a runny nose, irritated eyes and hives “can be quite debilitating and impactful on quality of life, they are not dangerous.”
Dr. Parikh said that if the conditions are “well controlled,” they “usually do not pose a problem.”
“It appears she is undergoing treatment for all three so unlikely to pose a big risk or threat,” the doctor added.
Harris’s medical report concluded: “She possesses the physical and mental resiliency required to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”
