‘Fox News Called Me An Idiot!’ Marjorie Taylor Greene Rages at Critics of Her Move to Oust Johnson

Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) fumed this week on Steve Bannon’s far-right podcast that Fox News called her an “idiot” as she pushes forward with her move to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
“And you’re right. You know, Fox News called me an idiot. That was literally their headline. They called me an idiot,” Greene replied to Bannon while discussing the pushback she has received from the right.
“But what I’ve done is exposed what was already happening in the dark. And I think I think the beautiful thing about it is, is that Democrats have to come clean. They were controlling Mike Johnson anyways. He was giving them everything wide open border policies, fully funded, fully funded Biden Department of Justice fully funded the FBI,” she fumed.
Many Republicans on Capitol Hill remain vehemently opposed to Greene pushing forward with a motion to vacate the speakership.
CNN’s Manu Raju compiled a supercut of his interviews with Greene’s colleagues, who slammed her move. Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) told Raju, “98% of us find it disgusting.” Raju highlighted some additional quotes on social media, writing:
McCormick: “It’s divisive inside of our conference.”
Ogles: “I think this is a distraction.”
Van Orden: “This is not a junior high school reality television show.”
Nehls: “Everything that we do in the House of Representatives should be in the best interest of getting Donald Trump reelected.”
But Massie believes next week’s vote will show Johnson can’t win speakership next year.
And MTG says to her colleagues: “I really don’t give a rat’s ass what anybody up here says about what I’m doing.”
Greene’s reference to Fox News calling her an “idiot” stems from a mid-April op-ed by Liz Peek titled, “Marjorie Taylor Greene is an idiot. She is trying to wreck the GOP.” While an op-ed is certainly not Fox News as an organization calling Greene an “idiot,” Peek pulled no punches in calling out Greene for what she called her “bombastic self-serving showmanship and drama queen” tactics.
