‘He’s Still Ahead!’ CNN Data Guru’s Mind Blown by Trump Leading Biden Despite Majority Saying Ex-President ‘Committed Serious Federal Crimes’

CNN Senior Data Reporter Harry Enten found himself gobsmacked by the latest polling in the 2024 presidential race.

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are on track for a rematch in November, as polling these days shows Trump consistently ahead of Biden. That’s despite the fact that Trump is under criminal indictment in four jurisdictions, including two federal cases. The former president is on trial in New York for allegedly falsifying business records; in federal court in Florida for retaining government documents after leaving office; in federal court in Washington, D.C. for trying to overturn the 2020 election; and in Georgia for attempting to subvert the election results in that state.

Appearing on CNN NewsNight, Enten broke down the results of four recent polls for host Abby Phillip and viewers. Each poll shows Trump leading Biden: New York Times/Siena, Trump +4; CBS News/YouGov, Trump +4; Fox News, Trump +2; Wall Street Journal, Trump +2.

“So, just how bad was this polling for President Biden?” Phillip asked Enten.

“Really, really, really bad,” he responded. “There were four polls – four polls – that came out over the weekend and you’ll notice there is a lot of red on this screen.”

Later in the segment, Enten turned to one question in the New York Times poll and the responses to it that he found particularly incredible:

Now, I’d like to dig a little bit deeper into the polling data. And this to me sort of says it all. “Has Trump committed serious federal crimes?”

A majority, a majority of likely voters say yes, he did! Yet, he’s still ahead! How is that possible? Because look at 2024 Trump supporters. It turns out 18% of them say that Trump has actually committed serious federal crimes. And yet they’re still voting for him! When it’s numbers like this, I just wonder, what the heck are you gonna do if you’re Joe Biden?

“It is stunning,” Phillip replied.
