Howard Stern Torches Trump Admin Over Jimmy Kimmel Suspension: ‘Enough, We’re Not Gonna Bow’

Howard Stern discussed ABC suspending late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel on the Monday episode of his SiriusXM radio show and ripped the government for interfering with free speech while vowing to boycott Disney – ABC’s parent company.
Stern said he spoke to Kimmel after the news broke that ABC was suspending him over comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s shooter, which resulted in Trump’s FCC chair threatening ABC. FCC Chair Brendan Carr took to a MAGA podcast ahead of Kimmel’s suspension and raised the prospect of pursuing “remedies” against ABC if it did not discipline Kimmel, adding that he can “certainly see a path forward for suspension.”
“Frankly, when you see stuff like this, I mean, look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
“When the government begins to interfere, when the government says, ‘I’m not pleased with you, so we’re gonna orchestrate a way to silence you,’ it’s the wrong direction for our country,” Stern said, adding:
I should know. I’ve been involved in something like this, and now ABC is put in the same position and it’s unfortunate that ABC even has to be in this position. They shouldn’t have to be in this position. I feel for them too, in this. But someone’s gotta step up and f*cking say, ‘Hey, enough, we’re not gonna bow.’ Now it might sound stupid, but the thing I did this morning, I’m canceling my Disney+. I’m trying to say with the pocketbook that I do not support what they’re doing with Jimmy.
HBO’s John Oliver ripped Disney CEO Bob Iger for Kimmel’s suspension, saying, “History is also going to remember the cowards who definitely knew better but still let things happen, whether it was for money, convenience, or just comfort.”
