Rep. Ilhan Omar criticized U.S. policy towards helping Israel by claiming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “no achievable goals” in the Gaza conflict.

Omar has been a long critic of giving aide to Israel even amid the conflict in Gaza. Earlier last month, Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel from land, air, and sea, resulting in the deaths of 1,400 people.

President Joe Biden has vowed to support Israel and Congressional leaders in both parties have pledged support to continue to military and financial aide.

“U.S. policy is essentially that Netanyahu has no achievable goals in Gaza and a ground invasion risks regional war, including potential US troops,” Omar wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter “And also we should give him $14 billion in weapons with no restrictions, and say there are no red lines as he bombs refugee camps.”

“See how this doesn’t add up?” she added.

The progressive lawmaker in the past called for a cease-fire to the current war along with fellow Democratic colleagues. Israeli leaders have indicated they do not intend on negotiating with Hamas for a peaceful end at this stage of the conflict.

Meanwhile, the White House have indicated they are open to a humanitarian pause to provide relief and aide to citizens in Gaza, but have not gone as far as to ask for a cease-fire.

Netanyahu told Secretary of State Antony Blinken that his country has ruled a temporary peace because “Israel will not enable the entry of fuel to Gaza and opposes sending money to the Strip.
