Jasmine Crockett Says She’s ‘Rooting for’ Canada and Mexico Lately Because They’re Speaking ‘Truth To Power’ Against Trump

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) said it’s “really wild” she finds herself “rooting for Canada and Mexico” these days because of their opposition to President Donald Trump.

Crockett joined The Breakfast Club on Friday, where she discussed the latest actions by Trump’s administrations, Democrats’ future, and shared her theory on the kinds of voters that Trump attracts.

“It seems like if you cool with Trump, you get a pardon. If you cool with Trump, he’ll tell them don’t prosecute him. Recently we seen Eric Adams not being prosecuted. What’s your thoughts on that?” co-host DJ Envy asked Crockett, referencing the Department of Justice ordering corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) be dropped.

A federal judge this week declined to immediately dismiss those charges.

“If you’re cool with Trump, you get paid,” Charlamagne Tha God joked.

Crockett made it clear she would never align herself with Trump or his MAGA movement.

“My thought is that I’m still Black in America and I ain’t going to play no kind of game or like, so I am going to walk the straight narrow for a number of reasons,” the lawmaker said. “Number one, I have some morals about myself. And number two, I know that they would love an opportunity to lock me up, right? Like I would be the exception to the rule.”

She then revealed she finds herself rooting for Canada and Mexico “a lot” these days when they oppose Trump.

Trump has faced some opposition in Canada, including from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, over his repeated wish that the country become America’s 51st state. He’s also feuded with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo over the southern border. Sheinbaum slapped back at Trump recently over crime committed by Americans in Mexico after he claimed there is an “intolerable alliance” between the Mexican government and drug cartels. Trump has also threatened both countries with steep tariffs.

Crockett said:

I mean, Canada has really been the one to call it out. The fact that I’m rooting for Canada and I’m rooting for Mexico a lot is really wild, but they are really the ones that are speaking truth to power right now. They can see what it is and they were like, we are not messing with this crazy regime from Mar-a-Lago and basically calling them thugs. That’s what it is. But I’m like, y’all knew who he was when y’all elected him, so don’t act surprised. You elected somebody who was actually convicted by a jury of his peers of 34 felony convictions. Again, if it was me, there’s no way. I mean, right now, I ain’t got no convictions, no arrests, no nothing. And I would never be qualified for president in this country in the eyes of the vast majority of them. But a guy who literally not only ended up becoming a convicted felon, but also had other cases that were pending in other jurisdictions, oh, yeah. He’s good to go.
