U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell chastised Rudy Giuliani for again defaming the two Georgia election workers he’s currently on trial for defaming.

Giuliani has already been found liable for falsely claiming that Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss manipulated ballots in the 2020 presidential election. The two women said Giuliani’s constant attacks have earned them racist threats and the need to conceal their identities for safety purposes. They are seeking in excess of $43 million in damages.

After the first day of trial to determine how much Giuliani must pay, he repeated his false claims outside the Washington, D.C., federal courthouse: “They were engaging in changing votes,” he told the media.

When asked if he regretted his comments about the election workers, Giuliani shot back, “Of course I don’t regret it.”

“I told the truth,” he said.

Politico reporter Kyle Cheney live tweeted the judge’s admonishment when the trial resumed Tuesday morning: “Howell now scolding Giuliani for his comments outside the courthouse yesterday saying they ‘could support another defamation claim.'”

Cheney reported that Howell asked, “Was Mr. Giuliani just playing for the cameras?”

“His attorney, Joe Sibley, agreed that he could not reconcile Giuliani’s out-of-court comments on Monday evening with the more contrite argument Sibley had made on behalf of the former New York City mayor earlier in the day,” Cheney wrote.

Sibley cited Giuliani’s age and health concerns in court on Monday, but Judge Howell said that Giuliani seemed to be following along just fine. However, Cheney wrote that Howell “did worry about whether he would be able to follow the court’s instructions, particularly when he testifies.”

Giuliani is scheduled to take the stand next week.

Despite his bravado outside court, Giuliani conceded in July court filings that the statements he made about Freeman and Moss were false and he knew they were false.
