More People Searching for ‘Donald Drumpf’ Than Cruz or Rubio

As a result of John Oliver’s tremendous 20-minute excoriation of the GOP frontrunner, searchers took to Google to seek out information on “Donald Drumpf,” the decidedly less glamorous surname Oliver said was a holdover from the mogul’s ancestors.

According to Google Trends, on the night before Super Tuesday, “Donald Drumpf” was trending higher than either Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio — the two candidates currently in a face-off, scrambling to position themselves as Republicans’ last best hope for a non-Trump nominee.

Reviewing these findings, the New York Times‘s Justin Wolfers wrote: “I’m led to conclude — with my tongue somewhere in the vicinity of my cheek — that Mr. Oliver and his #MakeDonaldDrumpfAgain movement has executed a more successful campaign than either Mr. Rubio or Mr. Cruz.”

Trump’s real name, however, dwarves all the other search terms during the same timeframe:
