MSNBC’s Joy Reid Calls It ‘Deeply Offensive’ That ‘Felon,’ ‘Adjudicated Sexual Offender’ Trump Will Be On Stage with Biden
MSNBC’s Joy Reid finds it “deeply offensive” that Donald Trump is even allowed to share the stage with President Joe Biden at their debate.
Reid was joined by Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson and former White House communications director Jennifer Palmieri on Wednesday to discuss Thursday’s CNN debate between the two presumptive major party candidates. Reid expressed outrage that Trump was making his way to the stage at all.
The MSNBC host referenced the former president being convicted on more than 30 felony counts in his Manhattan hush money trial, as well as being found liable in a defamation suit from writer E. Jean Carroll.
“This is the question — are y’all as offended as I am about the fact that it’s possible for this person, who is a felon and an adjudicated sexual assaulter, to stand next to the actual president and we’re supposed to take him seriously? There’s something deeply offensive about that. Should Biden exhibit that?” Reid said.
Wilson agreed, arguing if he were still a Republican strategist, he would run negative ads about the president sharing the stage with a felon.
Reid recommended Biden focus on naming Republicans who are vocal critics of Trump, including officials who have previously worked with him.
“He should name names,” Reid said. “Jim Mattis. He should talk about [Jon] Kelly. He should say, ‘why are they with me?’ Adam Kinzinger. These guys are with me. Mitt Romney is with me.”
