Pat Robertson Thinks Alabama Anti-Abortion Law is ‘Too Extreme’
CBN’s Pat Robertson says he believes the Alabama bill that would effectively ban abortions statewide is “an extreme law” and may be too extreme to survive a Supreme Court challenge.
“I think Alabama has gone too far,” Robertson said. “In my humble view, this is not the case we want to bring to the Supreme Court because I think we’ll lose.”

The bill passed the Alabama state Senate late Tuesday and now waits for Alabama’s Republican Gov. Kay Ivey’s signature, who has not indicated her stance on the bill. Republicans in Alabama have said they believe she supports the legislation.
The bill would make performing an abortion at any stage of pregnancy a felony, potentially punishing doctors who perform abortions with up to 99 years or even life in prison. The bill does not allow exceptions for cases of rape and incest.
Republican sponsors of the bill have said the intent of the legislation is to overturn the 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, which established a woman’s right to an abortion.
State Sen. Bobby Singleton, the Democratic minority leader of the Alabama Senate, said on CNN earlier Wednesday that the bill is “horrible” and compared its passage to rape.
Ivey has six days to approve or veto the legislation.
