Pro-DeSantis Website Really Wants People to Know Nikki Haley’s Parents Were Born in India: ‘Republicans Shocked’

A website supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ran a poll and published an article on the not-so-breaking news that his GOP rival Nikki Haley’s parents immigrated to the U.S. and named her Nimarata.
Along with DeSantis, the former South Carolina governor is vying for the Republican presidential nomination. Haley has overtaken him in some polls in recent weeks. However, both face an uphill battle as former President Donald Trump remains the frontrunner by far.
On Tuesday, a conservative website called The Florida Standard conducted an obviously unscientific poll on the X social media platform about Haley, whose name was Nimarata Nikki Randhawa until she married and took her husband’s last name. The publication omitted her middle name entirely.
“Did you know that Nikki Haley’s parents are immigrants from India and her birth name is Nimarata Randhawa?” it asked.

The poll has been viewed more than 400,000 times as of this writing. Nearly 7,000 users voted.
The Florida Standard made the poll its main story on Tuesday night in a post titled, “Republicans Shocked After Discovering Nikki Haley’s Real Name.”
Given that Nikki is Haley’s middle name, it is indeed her real name. Moreover, the article completely omits this fact from its “reporting.”
“But Republicans were shocked to discover that, amid her call for transparency, Haley’s campaign has quietly kept her birth name – Nimarata Randhawa – from the American people during three debates and her recent rise in early-state polls,” it read.
The article also stated that Haley “had not been honest about her own name,” as if one is obligated to tell the public they are using their middle name.
The hit piece also contains this bizarre passage suggesting Haley is trying to hide her Indian heritage:
“I liked the way Nikki Haley confidently handled herself during the debates,” Robyn McDaniel, a middle school history teacher, told The Florida Standard. “But after finding out that her real name is Nimarata, I’m more confused than ever.”
McDaniel doesn’t understand why Nikki hasn’t been candid about her real name. Haley’s GOP rival Vivek Ramaswamy has not been shy about his identity, telling voters he’s proud of his Indian cultural heritage while underscoring that he is “an American first.”
Conversely, Haley has neglected to publicly celebrate her roots and the story of her parents’ immigration to the U.S. from Amritsar, Punjab, India.
The article further quotes the teacher as saying that “voters have a right to know who they are electing.”
In April, the Florida Standard was profiled by Politico.
