Raskin Tells Newly-Elected House Republican, ‘You Look Idiotic’

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) unloaded on Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) a day after the Florida lawmaker referred to a Democratic congresswoman as a “Muslim terrorist.”

On Tuesday, Fine, who was elected to the House in a special election in April, once again attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

“This is Benjamin Netanyahu’s third visit to DC this year,” Omar tweeted regarding the Israeli prime minister’s visit to the White House this week. “War criminals should not be welcomed by any president or Congress. He should be held accountable for his crimes, not platformed. Beyond shameful.”

In November, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for war crimes in Gaza.

Fine responded by smearing Omar as a terrorist.

“I’m sure it is difficult to see us welcome the killer of so many of your fellow Muslim terrorists,” he replied. “The only shame is that you serve in Congress.”

On Wednesday, Raskin took to Bluesky to respond.

“I know you’re new to Congress, Mr. Fine, but we don’t call our colleagues terrorists here,” Raskin wrote in a post that included a screenshot of Fine’s tweet. “It just makes you look idiotic. At a time when MN Democrats have been targeted for assassination by a right-wing extremist, your rhetoric is seriously dangerous. Apologize now.”

Raskin’s note about “MN Democrats” was a reference to the two Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota who were allegedly shot by a conservative assassin last month. Authorities say 57-year-old Vance Boelter shot and killed state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband. Boelter also allegedly shot state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, who both survived.

In November, Fine tweeted at Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) to warn them that “the ‘Hebrew Hammer’ is coming” and that the two Muslim lawmakers should “consider leaving.” He added the hashtag, “#BombsAway.”
