Republican Senator Says RFK Jr. Assured Him He And Trump Have An ‘Agreement’ On Abortion
Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) spoke to the press on Tuesday after meeting with President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to run the Department of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Kennedy has found critics on the right for his long-held pro-choice position on abortion.
Tuberville was asked how his meeting went and he replied “It went good. Very positive. He’s upbeat. He is not much older than me, so he’s got a lot more knowledge than I do.” The Republican added:
But we’re we’re basically the same age. And I remember his past and how he grew up and it was fun to talk to him, but about his family. But at the end of the day, we talked about abortion and big the big thing about abortion is he’s telling everybody to listen. Whatever President Trump, I’m gonna back him 100%. And of course, President Trump is for the three, three exceptions.
We’ve all heard that. We talked about our farmers in Alabama, which they’re very concerned about food and food safety, but not go overboard where we can’t have good crops. And I can understand that. And he’s very on board. He understands our farmers are in trouble and we want to make sure that we have farmers that can make a living and we don’t lose our our family farms.
A reporter followed up, “What specific questions that you asked him about abortion? What concerns?”
“Well, I would just ask him. I said, you know, in the past you’ve been you’ve been pro-abortion. And he said, well, you know, it’s basically he and President Trump has sat down and talked to him about it and both of them came to an agreement, Hey, Roe/Wade is gone. Going back to the States, let the people vote on it. And that’s been mine and mine all along. I’m pro-life. But I’m glad that our American citizens have a chance to vote in their state. And he’s the same way,” Tuberville replied.
