Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis publicly ridiculed the Colorado Republican Party on Friday for making him promote their social media page as a requirement to qualify for the state’s ballot.

“To qualify for the CO primary ballot, the state party requires that candidates post something on social media that announces their excitement while encouraging their followers to follow the state party’s social media accounts for updates about the state party primary and events,” wrote DeSantis on X, formerly known as Twitter, before adding:

I’m excited to officially be on the ballot for the Colorado primary!

Coloradans, it’s time for Republicans to start winning again. As your nominee, I will run Biden ragged across this country and help Republicans up and down the ballot WIN.

Sure enough, shortly before DeSantis’ post, Republican primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy had published his own post claiming to be “excited to appear on the Colorado ballot” and encouraging his supporters to “follow @cologop for updates.”

The Colorado Republican Party retweeted Ramaswamy’s post, but did not retweet DeSantis.

According to RealClearPolitics’ polling average, DeSantis is sitting at 13.6% in the polls — almost 50 points behind the Republican primary frontrunner, former President Donald Trump.
