Special Counsel Who Hammered Biden Makes Clear Why Allegations in Trump Case Are Way Worse

Special Counsel Robert Hur explained in his harsh report on President Joe Biden why the allegations against former President Donald Trump are way worse.

Hur, who was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland last year, decided not to charge the president for “willfully” storing classified documents after leaving the vice presidency. The documents included information Biden had received as vice president as well as during his time as a senator from Delaware.

Garland appointed Hur to the position of special counsel after attorneys for Biden informed the Department of Justice that the president had retained classified documents at his home in Delaware. Trump and his supporters argued that the decision not to prosecute Biden reveals a double-standard at the DOJ.

Trump faces multiple charges from Special Counsel Jack Smith for storing classified material at his Mar-a-Lago Florida estate after leaving the White House in 2021.

However, Hur explained in his 388-page that the allegations and circumstances between Biden and Trump are completely different. Hur writes that Trump not only refused to hand over classified material after being asked by the DOJ but also “obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and then to lie about it.”

The report stated:

It is not our role to assess the criminal charges pending against Mr. Trump, but several material distinctions between Mr. Trump’s case and Mr. Biden’s are clear. Unlike the evidence involving Mr. Biden, the allegations set forth in the indictment of Mr. Trump, if proven, would present serious aggravating facts. Most notably, after being given multiple chances to return classified documents and avoid prosecution, Mr. Trump allegedly did the opposite. According to the indictment, he not only refused to return the documents for many months, but he also obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and then to lie about it. In contrast, Mr. Biden turned in classified documents to the National Archives and the Department of Justice, consented to the search of multiple locations including his homes, sat for a voluntary interview. and in other ways cooperated with the investigation.
