Trump Applauds ‘Patriot’ Laura Loomer as Her Loyalty Purge Moves on to Tucker Carlson and the Pentagon

President Donald Trump applauded Laura Loomer over the weekend when asked about her influence in his administration following her victory lap over several recent firings in his administration.
“She’s very nice,” Trump told reporters on Sunday when asked about Loomer.
“I mean, I know she’s known as a ‘radical right,’ but I think Laura Loomer is a very nice person. I’ve known her for a long time,” Trump continued, adding:
I think she’s a patriot, and she gets excited because of the fact that she’s a patriot, and she doesn’t like things going on that she thinks are bad for the country. I like her.
Loomer became a well-known figure in MAGA world for punching anti-Muslim rhetoric and far-right conspiracy theories, doubting everything from 9/11 to school shootings. At the outset of Trump’s second term, Loomer anointed herself Trump’s “disloyalty” protector and made it her personal mission to root out non-MAGA officials in the administration, including key personnel related to national security.
Loomer has claimed at least 16 “scalps” so far, including former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, National Security Agency directors Timothy Haugh and Wendy Noble, and Jen Easterly, the former head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Loomer’s purge has made national headlines and led to critics sounding the alarm, as national security positions have long been considered non-partisan and outside the realm of political jockeying, a norm the Trump administration is throwing out the window by having an online influencer oust officials over accusations of disloyalty.
In recent days, Loomer revealed her next two targets: the Pentagon and Tucker Carlson. CNN reported on Monday that Loomer recently met with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. CNN senior reporter Steve Contorno confirmed through the Pentagon that the two met, as a spokesperson for Hegseth noted the secretary “appreciates Laura Loomer’s outside advocacy.”
Last Wednesday, Loomer announced on X that she was turning her ire toward Hegseth’s workforce, writing, “Wow @PeteHegseth! Looks like some of your underlings are trying to screw you. There are clearly a lot of Biden holdovers at DOD undermining the Trump admin. Who the hell is doing the hiring over at DOD @DeptofDefense? It’s horrendous.”
On Sunday, Loomer took aim at ousted Fox News host Carlson, promising to reveal “something that should be the nail in his coffin that makes everyone realize what a fraud he is.” She later dropped her “exposé” in a lengthy thread claiming “Tucker Carlson Deliberately Chose To Suppress the Hunter Biden Laptop Story In 2020 To Preserve His Friendship and Investment Relationships With Hunter Biden and The Biden Family.”
