Trump Insists He Doesn’t Talk About Government With His Children — Just Says ‘I Love You Kids’

President Donald Trump insisted that conversations with his children focus mainly on “I love yous,” and never touch on the government or goings-on within the White House.

While Trump sat down with Punchbowl News reporter Jake Sherman for an interview on the show Fly Out Day, Sherman cited the fact that some Democratic lawmakers sought to “limit” the Trump family’s “ability to conduct crypto business” while Trump is in office.

When asked for his feelings on the matter, Trump first referenced former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s stock trades and suggested there was a double standard at play.

He then claimed that crypto was “very important” because, “If we don’t have it, China’s going to have it.”

The conversation continued:

TRUMP: But I do it, very simply, because we can’t let China have it or Japan have it. Other countries really want it and we dominate in it. So, to me, it’s very important. But they want to do a bill and in the bill they want me to be different than everybody else on the–

SHERMAN: So you’re against that, it would sound like?

TRUMP: Well, I don’t mind putting it in a blind trust. I don’t run my stuff anyway. I let my kids run it, but– and I never even talked, I never talk to them about things. If they want to go into– you know, they’re not involved in government. I don’t talk to them about government. I don’t talk to them about much, other than to say, “I love you, kids.”

The president’s comments came weeks after he disclosed approximately $1.4 billion in earnings from his family’s crypto ventures last year.
