Judge Napolitano: Robert Mueller Giving Trump ‘False Sense of Security’

Judge Andrew Napolitano appeared on comedian Joe Piscopo’s radio show this morning and the discussion quickly turned to the continued investigation into potential ties between Russia and President Donald Trump.

Napolitano has never been one to shield the Trump administration from harsh truths, particularly when it comes to the ongoing Russia investigation, led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. This interview was no different, with the judge insinuating that these past few weeks have been something of a quiet before the storm, and that the Michael Flynn guilty plea was a potential harbinger of more criminal indictments to come.

“When Trump’s lawyers said to him, ‘this will be over by Thanksgiving’, and here we are, Christmas, and it’s still ratcheting up,” he said. “I think they are giving him a false sense of security.”

“I don’t know where this ends. I believe that Jared Kushner is in their crosshairs. I believe that Donald Trump Jr. is in their crosshairs, and, of course, the president himself is.”

Piscopo then asked the judge if he was “concerned about the political bias demonstrated by some of the agents involved in this.”

Napolitano harshly rebuked this notion, which has become a popular talking point in right-leaning media, most notably on his network, Fox News.

“No I am not,” he said. “FBI agents are not choir boys, Joey. You don’t want FBI agents that are choir boys. They always have bias against their target. If they’re investigating the mob, they hate the mobsters. If they’re investigating bank robbers, they hate the bank robbers. If they’re investigating terrorists, they hate the terrorists.”

“Their attitude is, ‘Our job is to find evidence about these people that we’re investigating. Let judges and juries and courts worry about fairness.'”

Napolitano also noted that agents involved with the probe have been deposing banking records and emails without informing those they are investigating, something that is “perfectly lawful” but perhaps, in his estimation, not moral.
