‘OPEN ALCATRAZ!’ Trump Announces He’s Reopening and Expanding Notorious Prison: ‘A Symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE!’

President Donald Trump on Sunday announced seemingly out of the blue that he is directing the Bureau of Prisons to work with other Federal agencies to “REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ!” The long-closed and notorious prison in San Francisco will, he said, “serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE.”

In a late evening post on his Truth Social account, Trump stated that the prison, which closed its doors as a penitentiary 63 years ago in March of 1962, will be “substantially enlarged” and reopened for prisoners.

“For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering,” Trump wrote. “When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

“No longer will we tolerate these Serial Offenders who spread filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets,” said Trump in the first of two Alcatraz posts on his page. “That is why, today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

After his initial post on the subject, Trump shared a photo of Alcatraz Island as a “re-Truth” of his comments.

“We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally,” Trump said.

Trump has been facing major hurdles in his efforts at mass deportations, and has made multiple comments not only about those who are deported being imprisoned in places like El Salvador, but even remarked on the idea of American prisoners being shipped there.

Amid the court battles and his continued pressure on the subject of law and order as well as illegal immigration, he concluded his Alcatraz announcement with a sign-off typical of his Sunday night social media spurts.

“The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE,” he said. “We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
