Trump Calls For Rep. Omar to Resign: Comments Were ‘Deep Seated in Her Heart’

President Donald Trump called on Rep. Ilhan Omar to resign, over her controversial comments about Israel that were “deep seeded in her heart.”
Omar apologized yesterday after eliciting outrage while mocking pro-Israel Jewish lobbyists for allegedly buying American allies with large sums of money — a common trope associated with anti-Semitism. That incident had led to other tweets from the Democratic congresswoman surfacing, one which accuses Israel of having “hypnotized the world” with “evil doings” and calls on “Allah” to expose them.
The President called Omar’s apology “lame” while addressing the White House press pool Tuesday.
“I think she should either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee,” he said.
The criticism of Omar has been swift and bipartisan. Democrats including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) lined up to condemn Omar’s remarks.
